This part gives a brief idea about quaternary ammonium compounds, definition, synthesis, physical and chemical properties and their therapeutic uses. This part is divided into seven sections section [A]: Literature review. This section includes a general introduction about the chemistry and pharmacology of trospium chloride followed by a presentation of the reported methods used for its quantification. Section [B]: Stability - ndicating TLC densitometric method for the determination of trospium chloride. Acid and alkaline degradation products were isolated and their structures were elucidated using Infrared and mass spectrometry. Thin layer chromatographic separation followed by densitometric determination of trospium chloride was carried out using acetonitrile: glacial acetic acid (5 : 5 v / v) as a developing solvent
