Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine - Department of Prosthodontics Summary: A goal of restorative dentistry is to provide restorations free from occlusal interferences in both centric and eccentric relations. This requires accurate registration of maxillomandibular relationships that would precisely reproduce mandibular border movements. The purpose of recording a protrusive jaw relation is to set the condylar elements of articulators so that they will reproduce inclinations, which are similar or comparable to that of the patient{u2019}s tempromandibular articulation. The degree of steepness of the protrusive condylar angle would dictate the cusps lengths and inclines of posterior restorations as well as the palatal slopes of anterior restorations to be fabricated. The purpose of this study was to verify a literature reported formula ({u200E}103) for calculating the condylar guidance angle (CA). Twenty fully dentate volunteers free from signs and symptoms of tempromandibular joint dysfunction were selected for this study. All study samples were angle class I type of occlusion and had no history of orthodontic treatment or any restoration of the maxillary anterior teeth involving the palatal surfaces
