Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine - Department of Orthodontics Summary: Quick Ceph studio software is commercially available and widely used by orthodontists and offers soft tissue predictions. The accuracy of its predictions has been assessed before but not in extraction cases. so this study was carried out to evaluate the accuracy of Quick Ceph studio software in predicting soft tissue profile changes in extraction cases.Materials and Methods: A retrospective prognostic diagnostic study was conducted using pre and post- treatment lateral cephalograms of 27 female patients with an age range of 15-45 years having skeletal Class I relation, dentoalveolar protrusion with mild to moderate crowding. All patients had fixed orthodontic appliances in both upper and lower arches and extraction of four first premolars. Fixed appliances were removed after achieving Class I molar and canine relation, normal overjet, overbite and normal interincisal relation. Lateral cephalograms were uploaded into Quick Ceph software and hard tissue landmarks were digitized. The pretreatment lateral cephalometric radiograph for each patient was used to move the jaws and teeth anteroposteriorly to the actual post-treatment measurements to obtain accurate predictions mimicking exactly the treatment changes that occurred. Moving the dentoskeletal structures is accompanied by movement of the soft tissues of the patient, thus a new soft tissue profile becomes generated by the software to represent the predicted soft tissue profile. The difference between the actual post treatment and predicted soft tissue profile measurements were statistically analyzed
