Seven chili pepper PIs obtained from USDA were used in this study . Four PIs belong to Capsicum annuum , viz , 159233 , 138563 , 142837 and 166988 (used as line) and three PIs belong to Capsicum chinense , viz , 209028 , 159241 and 159236 (used as tester) were crossed in a line x tester mating design during 2005 - 2006
