Coinage industry is an industrial facility which manufactures coins that can be used as currency. Many metals are used in this industry such as: Copper, Aluminum, Nickel, Zinc, Silver, and Gold.
The aim of this work is to study the health hazards among workers in the Coinage industry with special emphasis on the health effects due to the exposure to Copper and Aluminum.
The current study was conducted on 42 workers exposed to Copper and Aluminium compared to 42 non-exposed individuals, in one of coinage industry factory located in Cairo /Egypt.
-A self-administrated questionnaire was used where present, past family and medical histories were taken.
-Clinical examination was done.
-Laboratory investigations in the form of serum copper and aluminium, CBC, kidney functions (urea and creatinine) and liver functions (AST/ALT) were measured.
There was no statistically significant difference between the exposed and control groups regarding age, sex, and duration of employment.
هذه الدراسة قائمة على دراسة المخاطرالصحية بين العاملين في احدي مصالح سك العملة في مصروخصوصا مخاطر التعرض للمعادن الثقيلة كالنحاس والالومنيوم المستخدمين في الصناعة وتشتمل دراسة 84 عاملا تم تقسيمهم الى مجموعتين 42عاملا معرضا لمخاطر الصناعة واخري 42 عاملا اداريا غير معرضيين وتم قياس نسبتي النحاس والالومنيوم في الدم واخري والتي تشمل صورة دم كاملة ووظائف كلي وكبد بين المجموعتين للمقارنة وقد تبين وجود دلالات احصائية ذات اهمية في نسبتي النحاس والالومنيوم في المجموعة المعرضة وعلاقتها ببعض الاعراض لدي المجموعة المعرضة.
