Childhood hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is an international health problem , and transmission from mother to infant is a major route of acquisition throughout the world.Infections acquired in childhood are responsible for the largest majority of chronic HBV infection , with its attendant complications of cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) .
