Alloimmunization to red cell antigens may result from pregnancy blood transfusion transplantation or from injection of immunogenic material . In some instances no specific immunizing event can be identifies . The purpose of the eantibod screen is to detect unexpected antibodies which can be classified as allo auto or naturally occurring and make up approximately 0.3 to 2 percent of the general population and up 36 percent of certain chronically transfused populations
