Economic literature has shown that banking regulations that promote bank competition while guaranteeing prudent bank performance are more likely to be associated with firm creation and faster economic growth . Bu studying a sample of 35 middle - income developing countries it was found that most of the sample countries have eased entry restrictions encouraged more private and foreign bank competition and strengthened prudential regulations
