Catalytic stabilized thermal combustion is the reaction between air and fuel in the presence of a catalytic surface . This type of combustion has proved to be efficient in lean air - fuel mixtures especially in gas turbines . In gas turbines when the NOx emissions should be minimized the temperature shouldn't exceed a certain limit; this implies the use of the lean mixtures of fuel and air
