A 24 mature male and 120 mature female albino rats weighing 140-200 gm, mature males were introduced with proestrous virgin females and mating was confirmed by the presence of sperm in the vaginal smears and pregnant females were allocated into 3 equall groups: control, melatonin treated and morphine sulphate treared groups 40 rats each
