The physiological role and pathophysiologic importance of resistin in humans are unclear . It was firstly proposed to be involved in insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes . Resistin was found to interact with and reienforce inflammatory pathways . C- reactive protein, a marker of inflammation, was reported to be positively correlated with resistin levels in several pathophsiological conditions
