A major concern has been raised recently regarding the increased groundwater levels in the pyramids archeological area. The pyramids area is surrounded by masses of population, urban expansions and gardens from all directions. For example, the random population blocs located in Nazlet Elsemman approach the pyramids area directly from the east, the population blocs located around the shooting club start blockading the pyramids area from the north, and urban development and expansion bound the area on the west side along the Cairo-Fayoum road
