Recent studies suggest that the population of malignant cells found in human acute myeloid leukemia (AML) arises from a rare population of leukemic stem cells (LSCs) Flow cytometric studies using bone marrow of newly diagnosed AML patients showed that the interleukin -3 receptor alpha chain was strongly expressed in (91.7%) of primary specimens and (90%) of post culture specimens
