The goals of treatment for radial head fractures are to restore forearm and elbow stability, and to maintain the relative length of the radius. Radial head excision was an acceptabel treatment for radial head fractures not amenable for fixation but it resulted in greater valgus laxity, Open reduction and internal fixation of radial head fractures is believed to be supperior to radial head excision, both in terms of strength, and the initial stability of the elbow and forearm
