In this study we studied the genetic evolution of the nonstructural 1 NS1 gene of the Egyptian strain H5N1 avian influenza from its first isolation in Egypt 2006 till 2011 and also we studied the genetic characterization of NS1 protein of Egyptian H5N1 avian influenza virus. The selection of the sample for this study depends on the phylogenetic grouping of the H5 gene of the Egyption strain, also in our study we focused on 2 avian species chicken and duck to compare the evolution of the NS1 gene in the Egyption H5N1 in 2 different species and along the period from 2006 to 2011
