Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Engineering - Department of Civil Engineering
Masonry is the oldest buildings material that still finds wide use in today's building industries , Particularly Minarets of Mosques , bell towers for the churchs , Industrial masonry Chimneys , Masonry Lighthouses and the watch towers , whether modern or historical . Masonry towers pose risk in case of lateral loads . The study aimed to determine the earthquakers response of masonry towers by developing accurate numerical Finite element model to obtain analytical results by which the structures earthquakes response can be identified and thus , suggestions for strengthening methods will be possible
