Ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury and therapy with angiotensin antagonists were shown to exert significant effects on the kidney. Aminoglycoside antibiotics are widely used clinically and may be adminstered concomitantly during treatment of chronic diseases such as hypertension which is frequently treated with chronic adminstration of angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors or angiotensin II receptor blockers
