Bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) also known as neonatal lung disease (CLD) is a lung disease that affects preterm preterm babies particularly those born before 32 weeks of pregnancy or weighing less than 1500 grams at birth . BPD is predominately a disorder of the surviving extremely premature infant often preceded by significant oxygen requirements and need for mechanical ventilation beyond the first week of life
