CKD and ESRD is associated with an adverse cardiovascular prognosis that led both the national kidney foundation and the American college of cardiology American heart association to recommend that CKD be considered a CHD risk equivalent . A secondary analysis from the ARIC study confirmed the increase in cardiovascular risk associated with CKD dyslipidemia hypertension and atherogenesis are co'morbid conditions in addition to insulin resistance that are associated with obesity and adversely influenced by the sceretion of these adipokines
