The universally accepted treatment modality of intertrochanteric and subtrochanteric fracture is open / closed reduction and internal fixation using sliding hip screw devices and intramedullary fixation systems as the Gamma - nail . However these fractures commonly occur in a geriatric population well known to suffer from a high rate of preoperative complications and associated co- morbidities resulting in a high rate of morbidities and mortalities when treated traditionally
