Local scour at bridge piers foundation is a major caude of bridge failure . Accurate prediction of the equilibrium scour depth is essential for safe and economic design for bridge pier foundations . Numerous laboratory studies have been carried out for developing empirical equations to predict the maximum scour depth which do not always produce reasonable compatibility with field conditions
