The remarkable molecular heterogeneity of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) has made a genetic - based classification, essential for accurate diagnosis, prognostic stratification, monitoring minimal residual disease, and developing targeted therapies. NPM1 mutations represent the most frequent alterations in AML, occurring in approximately one third of adult patients with AML, and are associated with a normal karyotype
