Thoracotomy, with its associated pathophysiological abnormalities produces one of the most damaging surgical insults which it is possible to inflict on patients. Thoracotomy pain arises as a result of several chest wall trauma including fractured ribs, damaged peripheral nerves and central nervous system hypersensitisation. The aim of this study is to compare the effect of continuous thoracic epidural and continuous thoracic paravertebral techniques on thoracotomy pain relief using the local anesthetic 2levobupivacaine". This study was performed on 50 adult consecutive patients (aged> 18 years) of both sex, ASA I-II who were admitted for elective lung resection (lobectomy, segmentectomy or pneumonectomy). Patients were randomly allocated into two equal groups of 25 patients each
