This study was conducted to investigate the effect of low level laser (infrared range) in relieving pain for trigeminal neuralgia patients. Thirty patients diagnosed as having trigeminal neuralgia ( classic or idiopathic) of no cranial origin participated in this study between august 2010 and November 2011. All patients were selected from the pain management units of Bab_Alshaaria and Al-hussin hospitals. Patients were divided randomly in two equal groups, study and control groups. Every patient from study and control groups was received 12 sessions along one month by three sessions every week every other day according to trigger points of pain, up to five points. Study group (1) received real laser and control group (2) received sham laser. The evaluation tools were used before start the first session and at the end of the all sessions for each patient and at same range in time which was cortisol level in serum, visual analogue scale and frequency of paroxysms. The results of this study showed, that there was a significant reduction (relief) in pain of trigeminal neuralgia from degree of severity, number of paroxysms and its duration in study group when compared with control group
