Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Veterinary Medicine - Department of Biochemistry and Chemistry of Nutrition
Equine laminitis is a multifactorial connective tissue disorder with major implications for the welfare of horses. Hormonal and alimetary disturbances implicated in such condition. Aiming to monitor the biochemical and molecular changes that occurring during different stages of laminitis, the current study was carried out on 40 male horses attended to the surgery clinic at Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Cairo university. Animals were categorized based on clinical examination into clinically healthy and laminitic (early and late stage of laminitis). Levels of blood glucose, insulin, malonaldialdehyde (MDA), protein carbonyl content (PCC) and DNA fragmentation, activities of pro-matrix metalloproteinase 2 and 9 (pro - MMP2 and 9) and ISSR - PCR using dinucleotide and trinucleotide primers were carried out
