Vitamins are important food constituents, which can be present in almost every foodstuff. Food quality and safety depend on food surveillance by reliable quantitative analysis enabled by appropriate quality control. Certified matrix reference materials (CRMs) are versatile tools to support quality assurance. However, in the case of vitamins, there is a lack of suitable CRMs. Therefore five certified matrix reference materials for the determination of Ü and Þ-tocopherol in corn, peanut and soybean oils, also water and fat soluble vitamins in milk powder and infant formula were developed. This research work presents the preparation, characterization, homogeneity, stability testing, improvement of existing analytical methods and development of simple reversed phase method for separation of individual tocopherols as well as statistical treatment of data and certified value assignment. The certified values and their corresponding expanded uncertainties were calculated at confidence level of approximately 95%
