Despite the technological progress that has emerged in the past century, many challenges still face the urban world today, especially in the traditional communities. The aim of this thesis is to propose a sustainable design approach that is based on a socio- cultural strategy. This strategy aims to preserve the diversity of existing cultures by setting a fundamental concept of locality and sense of identity. This thesis is based on the fundamental concepts of popular thinking. it proposes that the dynamics of popular urbanism can be the answer for the socio- cultural sustainable design approach that is needed for the traditional communities
