Photometric Study of some cD Galaxies / (cD) درا اات اع Eman Aly Shaban Abdelmotaleb ; Supervised Magdy Youssef Amin , Gamal Bakr Ali - Cairo : Eman Aly Shaban Abdelmotaleb , 2014 - 82 P. : charts , facsimiles ; 25cm
Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Science - Department of Astronomy and Meteorology
In this MSc study, we aim to determine the shape of the surface brightness profile of the extended envelope of a sample of cD galaxies. Both de Vaucouleurs r1/4 low and Sersic's r1/n model, on their own, provide a poor description of the surface brightness profiles of cD galaxies. We therefore plan to determine the most appropriate analytical model to describe cD galaxy, whether this be an exponential profile, a Sersic model, or some other function. We additionally intend to measure the fraction of light contained within their different components. Among others the following will be determined: Luminosity profiles along the major and minor axes, Structural profiles (Position angle profile, ellipticity profile, etc.), Color distribution
Elliptical galaxies and cD galaxies Galaxies Galaxies, photometric parameters
