Assessment of toll-like receptors 2 and 4 in gingival crevicular fluid and blood of chronic periodontitis and controlled type 2 diabetic patients / التعبير عن المستقبلات شبيهة التول 2 و 4 في السائل اللثوي والدم في امراض دواعم السن والتحكم الإيضى لدى مرضى التهاب اللثة المزمن من مرضى السكر الفئة الثانية Warda Elhadi Elhmali ; Supervised Riham Omar Ibrahim , Olfat Shaker , Eman Omar - Cairo : Warda Elhadi Elhmali , 2014 - 127 Leaves : charts , facsimiles ; 30cm
Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine - Department of Periodontology
OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to assess the levels of Toll like receptors 2 and 4 (TLR2 and TLR4) in the gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) and blood from controlled type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) patients with chronic periodontitis and subjects with chronic periodontitis alone. Conclusion: Both Hyperglycemia and chronic periodontitis influence the expression of TLR-2 and TLR-4 in GCF and serum and this could contribute to a stronger inflammatory response, leading to periodontal disease progression. The expression of TLR-2 and TLR-4 is positively correlated with the severity of periodontal disease
