Background & aims: the molecular mechanisms of metronidazole resistance are mediated by inactivation of an oxygen-insensitve NADPH nitroreductase (rdxA). therefore, this study was initated to determine metronidazole resistance among H.pylori isolates in Egypt by detection of rdxA gene mutation . Patients and Methods: 100 patients included who presented to the endoscopy unit kasr Al Aini hospital where upper GI endoscopy with gastric biopsies (body and antrum) were done. The specimens were tested for the presence of H. pylori by PCR (Hp 16S). Then, positive biopsies of H. pylori will be tested for the presence of metronidazole resistance gence (rdxA gene mutation) by PCR
