Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Agriculture - Department of Vegetable

These studies were carried out during the period from 2012 to 2014 at the Agricultural Experiment Station of the Faculty of Agriculture, Cairo University, Giza, Egypt. This work aimed at evaluation of some tomato genotypes and hybrids having different quality genes, viz., alc, del, hp, nor, r and t for some fruit quality characters during different maturity stages and also during storage. Taking significance of differences into consideration, the mean performance of the evaluated genotypes over the stages of ripening indicated that LA3134 was superior in titratable acidity (TA), ascorbic acid (AA), total carotene (TC), citric acid (CA) and malic acid (MC), while LA3183 was the highest in total soluble solids (TSS), AA, lycopene content (LC) and TC. Also LA3006 recorded the highest values in fruit firmness (FF), LC and TC. At the breaker stage, LA3134 was superior in TA, TC, CA, MA and pH (lowest), while LA1793 was the highest in FF, TSS, total sugars (TS) and reducing sugars (RS)
