The question of what makes a text revolutionary or subversive yields engaging possibilities when posed in relation to the contemporary poetry of Anglophone Caribbean women writerst first sight , these texts radiate elements of unpredictability and embody an exciting locomotion of juxtaposed oppositesEvaluating the subversive / revolutionary value of such elements necessitates a detailed inquiry into the complicated conditions of the production of these textsIn turn , a full appreciation of the aesthetic projects of the writers in this study will be possibleThese elements , it may be argued , appear in Caribbean texts across the ages ; yet , they become intriguingly crystallized and attain new dimensions of maturity , potency and aesthetic value in the texts at handMoreover , in the case of these writers , such elements are inspired by new struggles that are a product of specific power - laden situations
