Tramadol induced seizures have emerged as a common cause of seizures in Egypt recently affecting mainly young men. The aim of this study was to determine the percentage of tramadol induced seizures in Kasr Alainy epilepsy clinic during the period from January 2012 through June 2014 and to study the clinical, neurophysiological and radiological features of tramadol induced seizures in comparison to idiopathic epilepsy. A cross sectional analytical study conducted on 1480 patients through 2 phases; epidemiological phase and case control phase. Of these patients, there were 103 patients identified with tramadol induced seizures. Retrograde analysis of data of these 103 patients was done. From these 103 patients, 30 patients were selected as a case group compared to a control group of 30 patients with idiopathic epilepsy. History taking, neurological examination, electroencephalogram (EEG), laboratory tests, magnetic resonance Imaging (MRI) of the brain and hamilton depression scale (HAM - D) were done for both case and control groups
