Alcoholic liver disease remains one of the most common causes of chronic liver disease in the world. Alcoholic liver diseases are characterized by diverse but well-defined morphological changes including increased fatty deposits, alcoholic hepatitis. In advanced cases cirrhosis may develop. Ethanol causes marked degenerative changes in the liver of adult male albino rats and concomitant use of L-carnitine protects against such pathological changes
