This study aims to evaluate the outcomes of surgical excision of sphenoid wing meningioma en plaque through pterional approach regarding Symptoms improvement, Postoperative complications and Extent of tumor removal and repair of dura and bone. This retrospective study was conducted upon 20 patients with meningioma en plaque of the sphenoid ridge, these patients were admitted and operated upon in the Neurosurgery department in Cairo University hospitals in the period from October 2013 to August 2014. Complete removal of the tumor, hyperostosis and involved dura is the aim of surgery, however aggressive drilling, manipulation or excessive resection of the tumor esp. in optic canal, superior orbital fissure or cavernous sinus can result in further neurological deterioration due to injury of cranial nerves
