The present study had been performed on operation room nurses at Cairo University hospitals to detect the prevalence of occupational musculoskeletal disorders, to assess the work related risk factors that contribute to occurrence of these disorders, and determine the relationship between osteoarthritis and the level of urinary carboxyl - terminal cross linked telopeptide collagen type II (CTX-II). The study revealed high prevalence of musculoskeletal symptoms among operation room nurses. The symptoms are significantly associated with occupational risk factors. Most of the studied nurses showed abnormal scores in scales of job content questionnaire as low decision authority, low decision latitude, high job demand, job strain and low social support. Most of nurses (75.5%) had elevated level of urinary CTX-II, and this marker is significantly higher among nurses with signs of osteoarthritis
