Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Pharmacy - Department of Analytical Chemistry
This thesis deals with the analysis of antimicrobial drugs, Cefquinome sulfate, Chlorhexidine acetate and Ketoconazole. The pharmaceutical compounds are subjected to some degradation due to packing, transportation, humidity and usage. Degradation products produced may affect the pharmacological and toxicological aspects or bioavailability. Therefore, stability indicating assays of Cefquinome sulfate has to be investigated to determine if it persist against different conditions. Recently, multicomponent formulations have also gained a great importance due to patients compliance, synergistic effects, multiple action and fast onset of action. Thus simultaneous estimation of co-formulated drugs is an important part in the field of pharmacy as it save efforts and time of extraction and separation. The aim of this work is to develop simple, efficient and selective methods for quantitative determination of intact Cefquinome sulfate in raw material, in presence of its degradation products and in pharmaceutical formulations. Simultaneous determination of Chlorhexidine acetate and Ketoconazole binary mixture by different analytical methods was also performed. These methods could be used for routine work and quality control analysis of the investigated drugs either in bulk powder or in their pharmaceutical formulations. The proposed methods could be used for stability indicating studies of Cefquinome sulfate in the presence of its degradation products.
