Evaluation of seismic response modification factor of reinforced concrete frames in the Egyptian code based on nonlinear static analysis / تقييم معامل الإستجابه الزلزالى للأطارات الخرسانية المسلحة وفقا" للكود المصرى بإستخدام التحليل الإستاتيكى اللاخطى Amira Elyamany Ali Mohamed ; Supervised Walid A. Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Engineering - Department of Civil Engineering
The objective of the thesis is discussing the values of response modification factor (R) for ordinary reinforced concrete frames in the Egyptian Code of Practice ECP-201(2012). The studied frames were divided into 4 groups and changing some factors. Also, comparative study between the ECP-201(2012) and other codes were held. It was found that R factor increases with decreasing number of stories and the fundamental period of vibration. In addition, R factor decreases with decreasing number of bays. The listed values of R factor in the ECP-201(2012) are conservative values and can be increased
