Purpose: Since of the forties of the past century, there is wide controversial about the effective surgical treatment for the primary benign parotid tumor. This study investigates the complication and the effectiveness of superficial parotidectomy versus total conservative parotidectomy in management of primary benign parotid tumors. Results: Result of 20 parotidectomies, no patient suffered from permanent facial nerve paralysis. There were 6 (30%) cases of facial nerve paresis. 4 of them involved the marginal mandibular branch and 2 involved the buccal division. Complete recovery took from 10 days to 5 months. There were 3(30%) cases of recurrence which occurred in control group. The overall duration of follow up for both groups was ranged from 9 month to 48 month. Conclusion: Total conservative parotidectomy showed minimal complication rate and more effectiveness for management of benign parotid tumor in adult patients
