Background The inducibility of AF during electrophysiological studies (EPS) has been examined as an electrophysiological parameter (atrial vulnerability) related to clinical occurrence and recurrence of AF in many studies. However, the majority of these studies examined induced AF in patients of SVTs who had clinically documented AF prior to SVT ablation procedure. Objectives To determine the incidence and predictors of atrial fibrillation (AF) induced during paroxysmal supraventricular arrhythmias (PSVT) ablation procedures and its impact on procedure duration in patients without prior history of AF. Describe the characteristics of induced AF episodes as regard the mode of initiation & termination and duration of the episode. Conclusion The incidence of AF induced during SVT ablation is about 21.7%. Induced AF was found to significantly prolong SVT ablation procedure times. Short TCL was independent predictor for induction of AF and was correlated was higher number of episodes. Understanding the charecteristics of initiation and termination may help to reduce the frequency of induced AF.
