This study aims at evaluating the utilization of rubber-sand mixture (RSM) layer embedded in sandy soil formation at different depths from ground surface to enhance ground seismic response. Material characterization is performed through conducting a suite of static and dynamic laboratory tests to characterize the utilized materials in the study. Scaled model tests are performed on the shaking table apparatus to assess the dynamic response of baseline soil profile (pure sand) and profiles including RSM layer of variable depth, thickness and rubber content. A numerical model is verified based on the shaking table test results and the verified model is utilized to perform a parametric study to investigate the effect of some parameters on the seismic response of ground surface. Results show that the application of the proposed layer to enhance the ground surface response during earthquakes is subjected to the target natural period of the structure, ground motion acceleration amplitude and characteristics of RSM layer
