Our understanding of the world depends on spatial conception which depends largely on culture. Therefore, each culture has its own view of space, and reflect it in its art and architecture. This study aims to explore the relation between conceptual meaning of space, and the built space in historical architecture of major religions, and stating the 'spatial ideals' of each. A theoretical framework is applied into historical analysis of religious buildings - in Western, Islamic, and Asian architecture- using a set of spatial properties
