Neutropenic fever (also known as febrile neutropenia) remains one of the most commonly encountered oncologic emergencies and because of their impaired immune systems; they often dont exhibit typical signs and symptoms of infection. The main reasons for this study were to improve outcome of febrile neutropenic patients, to evaluate different risk factors and to define the most common pathogens and sensitive antibiotics This is a prospective observational study including 142 patients with haematological malignancies who presented to Kasr Alainy center of clinical oncology and nuclear medicine (NEMROCK) during the period of 1st of June 2014 till the end of October 2015. This group of patients suffered from 270 episodes of febrile neutropenia. According to the MASCC score, high risk patients were treated inpatients. All admitted patients were subjected to blood culture withdrawal and early start of empirical antibiotics, receive antifungal and antiviral or G-CSF according to guidelines. The different modalities used for the diagnosis of infection were analysed in addition to the results of treatment by different classes of antibiotics. All factors which may affect the prognosis were subjected to analysis
