A comparative botanical study was carried out dealing with morphological and anatomical characters using light and electronic microscope, in addition to molecular biological evidences of four plant species of genus Salvia L. (Fam. Lamiaceae) since these species are important ornamental and medicinal plants in Egypt; namely as follows (arranged alphabetically): Salvia coccinea Buc'hoz ex Etl., salvia farinacea benth., salvia officinalis L. and Salvia splendens sellow ex roem. And schult. This study aimed at introducing a comparative botanical study among the four plant species under study throughout the consecutive periods of the whole life span of plants. Authentication procedure of studied plant species was performed at the Herbarium of flora and phyto-taxonomy researches, horticulture research Institute, ARC, Dokki, Giza, Egypt (CAIM). Plants were cultivated and the experimental part of the study was carried out at the agricultural experiments and researches station, Faculty of agriculture, Cairo university, Giza, Egypt throughout two growing seasons of 2012/2013 and 2013/ 2014. This investigation followed up seed germination of the four plant species under study and transplants aged one month were obtained and cultivated to be used for the experimental field work throughout the two consecutive seasons started 30 November 2012 till July 2014
