Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Pharmacy - Department of Analytical Chemistry
The present thesis includes electrochemical technique using gold nano particles, forced degradation, spectrophotometric determination (first derivative and ratio derivative method), TLC methods, HPLC methods and thermal characterization, of some drugs containing quinolone group namely Gemifloxacin mesylate (GEM), sparafloxacin HCl (SPAR), and besifloxacin HCl (BESI). The aim of the work is the development of simple and accurate methods for analysis of the citied drugs (GEM, SPAR and BESI), and adaptation of these methods to the determination in their pharmaceutical preparations. Part one: General introduction and Literature survey. This provides a general pharmacological action of the drugs Gemifloxacin mesylate (GEM), sparafloxacin HCl (SPAR), and Besifloxacin HCl (BESI), as well as their chemical structure and properties, pharmacokinetics and their adverse effect. A brief review of the different methods reported in the literature surveys on the methods of determination of gemifloxacin mesylate (GEM), sparafloxacin HCl (SPAR), and besifloxacin HCl (BESI). Part two: Utilization of carbon paste electrode for determination of gemifloxacin mesylate, sparafloxacin hydrochloride and Besifloxacin hydrochloride using nano particle technique in presence of surfactants. This part is divided into three sections: Section A: Utilization of carbon paste electrode for determination of Gemifloxacin mesylate using nanoparticle technique in presence of surfactants In the present work, gold nanoparticles modified carbon paste electrode in presence of tween 80 was used for electrochemical determination of Gemifloxacin mesylate GEM
