Chronic hepatitis C infection is considered one of the major threats worldwide, with high prevalence in Africa and Middle East especially in Egypt. The current standard treatment of choice of HCV infection consists of a weekly subcutanrous administration of pegylated interferon alpha (PEG-IFN) in combination with daily oral doses of ribavirin.
