Comparative seismic study for high rise steel buildings in zone (c) between: special concentrically braced frames (SCBF) and the common braced frames not specifically detailed for seismic resistance / دراسة زلزالية مقارنة للمنشآت الحديدية العالية فى المنطقة الزلزالية (جـ) بين: الإطارات الخاصة المزودة بشكالات مركزية - ذات تفاصيل زلزالية مخصوصة و الإطارات المزودة بشكالات مركزية عادية - بدون تفاصيل زلزالية مخصوصة Mahmoud Samir Abdelhalim Ahmed ; Supervised Maheeb Abdel Ghaffar , Mohammad Danish Arafa - Cairo : Mahmoud Samir Abdelhalim Ahmed , 2017 - 150 P. ; 30cm
Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Engineering - Department of Civil Engineering
The thesis presents a comparative seismic study between special concentrically braced frames with (R=6) and systems not specifically detailed for seismic provisions that do not have sufficient ductility with 2R=33.The thesis studies the economic point of view for the two systems through the analysis and design of four buildings with different heights, then evaluating the weights and costs of both systems and studying the effect of ductility requirements of the beams, columns and connections, and finally studying the effect of ductility requirements on fabrication, handling, erection and inspection costs
