Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA) is characterized by shortened red blood cell (RBC) survival and the presence of autoantibodies directed against autologous RBCs (Petz et al., 2004). Evan's Syndrome is a combination between AIHA and Idiopathic or immune Thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP). B lymphocytes play important roles in the pathogenesis of AIHA/Evan's syndrome. Recent studies have shown that CD5+B lymphocytes are associated with immune-related cytopenia and induction of apoptosis of CD5+b lymphocytes and down-regulation of activity of CD5+b lymphocytes can relieve this disease (Limin et al., 2005). In our study we investigate the expression of activation molecules on CD5+b lymphocytes in peripheral blood of autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AIHA)/Evan's patients. Expression of activated molecules on CD5+b lymphocytes (CD86, CD69, HLA-DR) was performed using flow cytometry (Petz et al., 2004)
