Huge amounts of genomics data generated by modern DNA sequencers present non-easy challenges in storage and transmission. General purpose compression tools "GPCT" fails in these challenges. We present a novel method to improve the compression of GPCT. It consists of three pre-processing steps then applying GPCT. Validation results show improving the efficiency of gzip, Bzip2 and 7z by 6.59%, 7.12% and 5.69% respectively, with ten times faster than the best available methods
