The harmonics phenomena are one of the main problems affecting power quality in the electrical distribution networks. Harmonic problem is different than other power quality components. It transmits from customer to neighbours causing impacts on the network elements. In the industrial section, there are many solutions to the harmonics problem; each solution has advantages and disadvantages. A tradeoff must be done between the advantages, disadvantages and the price of the solution. There are many available traditional solutions used by the industrial customers. For residential and commercial customers, no one cared about the harmonics due to the insignificant power consumption compared with industrial loads. The new power electronics residential devices represent harmonics sources in the distribution network. These loads are neglected at the present time, but the wide increase of these devices leads us to more studies on the harmonics resulted from residential devices. This thesis presents a technique for harmonic mitigation and cancellation in residential distribution network without any cost. The proposed technique only need more analyzes of the residential devices to choose the best arrangement useful in harmonic cancellation process. The thesis applied the proposed idea on a small flat equipped with different non-linear loads. The thesis presents recommendations to the residential nonlinear load's manufacturer, electrical consultants, and the utility to mitigate and cancellate harmonics in the distribution network without any additional costs
